ree

Day 3 of our summer camp was packed with fun and learning as our campers visited the Philippine Consulate in San Francisco! They were warmly welcomed by Deputy Consul General Maria Paz Cortes, Vice Consul Hannah Go and the friendly consulate staff — making everyone feel part of one big pamilya! 👋😊

Each camper received a special passport 🛂 and set off to explore five exciting stations around the consulate. At every stop, they completed fun activities to earn stamps — just like real explorers discovering the Philippines! 🌏✈️

🧭 Station 1: Our Heroes — Scavenger Hunt Adventure! 🕵️‍♂️🎉

The kids went on a scavenger hunt to find clues about our nation’s heroes! From Jose Rizal 🖋️, the great patriot, to Andres Bonifacio 🪓 and Apolinario Mabini 🧠, they learned stories of bravery and brainpower. They also discovered modern champions like Hidilyn Diaz 🏋️‍♀️, Carlos Yulo 🤸‍♂️, and Manny Pacquiao 🥊. Everyone shouted, “Ayan na! Nahanap ko na!” as they raced to find the next clue. What an inspiring adventure! 💪🇵🇭

🎨 Station 2: Culture and Tourism — Let Your Creativity Shine! 🌺🎨

The artists in our campers came alive as they designed their own “LOVE The Philippines” slogans. The colorful, creative ideas made this station a festive burst of fun and pride! 🌟 The top five designs won special prizes — congrats to our young artists! 🏆🎁

🕹️ Station 3: Pinoy Game Zone — Play Time! 🎉

The Philippines is full of fun traditional games, and our campers tried some favorites:

  • Limbo Rock: How low can you go? 🕺 Everyone bent and twisted, laughing and shouting, “Paano ba ‘to?!” as they tried to limbo under the stick without falling. So, handa ka na ba? Limbo na tayo!

ree
  • Holen (Jolen): Flick your colorful marbles and try to hit others! 🎯 Kids loved this classic marble game that’s played everywhere in the Philippines.

ree
  • Tumbang Preso: Aim your slipper, knock down the can, then run! 🥏 It’s fast, fun, and full of excitement — just like a real Pinoy street game.

🏛️ Station 4: Our Home — The Philippine Center Puzzle! 🧩

Step back in time and learn about the consulate building — a beautiful, century-old treasure built in 1909, once owned by PG&E, and transformed into the Philippine Center in 1974. The campers worked in teams to rebuild a puzzle of the building as it looked in 1974. The first team to finish rang the bell and won a prize! Ding-ding! 🔔🎉

The much-anticipated lunch arrived — a delicious Jollibee spaghetti and one piece of Chickenjoy! The kids gobbled up the sweet, cheesy spaghetti loaded with juicy hotdogs and savored the crispy, golden fried chicken. Even the adults couldn’t resist joining in! This classic Filipino meal brought smiles and full tummies all around. 😋❤️
